Ponderings of the Pastor:

A guide for our lives,
Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Psalm 19:1 A psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Psalm 119:9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.

2 Peter 1:4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

Psalm 37:23 If the LORD delights in a man's way, he makes his steps firm;

Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.

Joshua 1:8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

I was asked how you live without making mistakes.  Let me say we cannot, that is the reason we need to focus on The Word of God.    Although we can try our best to not make mistakes (we all do), maybe not on purpose but we do make them.

The other day I saw a picture on face book and I thought it was a model of what is going on in our world.  It was quickly noticed that I was incorrect and that the picture did not show what was really going on.   Every one of us should be more select in what we assume is going on and instead, do the research before we pass items forward.

So how do we avoid making mistakes?  First we prepare our lives daily to live for the Lord.  Second, identify some scriptures passages and follow the advice on how to live for the Lord.  Third, do not walk alone, it is far better to walk with another Christian learning from the Word and each other.  Fourth, attend Worship services weekly.  Fifth, attend a Bible study group and if there is not one for what you believe you need to learn, ask about starting a new class.

You might also use the time of Lent as a time of reflection.  Lent has been practiced from the fourth century AD.   Though there is no explicit evidence of Lent in the scripture, many believers have tried to argue that Lent is based on Jesus’ temptation in the desert for 40 days.  The 40 days before Easter is a preparation time know as Lent.

In closing be reminded that the Lord is all around us.  He created all we see.  He delights when we live for Him.  So use this time as a time prepare for Jesus’ return.  May we all be blessed by our Lord Jesus Christ.

February 2022

Ponderings from the Pastor,

Ok here we go; we have such an awesome God! He has brought us together to grow and lift each other up in our walks with Christ. So, the journey begins, I would ask that you pray for our ministry together. That each of us asks God who we shall reach out to, invite to church and to know Christ.

February is the “Month of Love” so what does that mean for our Christian life? Maybe it should remind us to love one another as quoted in John 13 or we are to Love our enemies as in Matthew 5:3-44.  Or maybe we need to focus on the love in marriage as stated in Song of Songs 8:6-7.  For each of us there are things we are loved for, but I pray that we are known for the love that Christ has shown to us. With that in mind let us begin our prayers with thanks to the Lord for His leading and for His comfort.

As a loving Church maybe, we should be living our lives according to the Scriptures that call us to love each other and those around us.  Love guides us in our relationship to Christ, the church, our family, and friends. This love should also be our purpose for reaching out into our community and living for the Lord. Being His witnesses in all that we do.

If we love Jesus, let’s start being the House of prayer that He calls us to be.  Look at Matthew 21:13 where Jesus says, “My house will be called a house of prayer,” it’s time to set everything aside and ask the Lord for His leading and direction.  It’s time to thank Him for the blessings and trials that we go through.

May the Lord’s love show in your walk with Him to all that see you.

Pastor David

As I was getting ready for this month’s newsletter, I keep thinking what events are up coming. When are the committees’ meetings? With that in mind I would ask you to please let myself or Laurel know when you or having an event are meeting so that we can place it on the calendar. We want to promote our church and events, but if we do not have the information, we cannot promote them.
