So many things all happening at once, oh my, what do I do? Do you ever get that feeling at Christmas time and at the end of the year? And to add to that worry have you looked around the county and seen what is happening?
All I wanted to do this year was to celebrate the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. So, with that in mind I have chosen to do just that. I am reading through the Christmas story in the Scriptures and reading the Advent countdown cards each day. Have you looked at the cards for this week’s readings?
Day 1 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (Joh 3:16 NIV)
Day 2 "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.” (Isa 60:1 NIV)
Day 3 “A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.” (Isa 11:1 NIV)
Day 4 “Therefore the Lord himself will give you1 a sign. The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” (Isa 7:14 NIV)
Day 5 “Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.” (Isa 55:6 NIV)
Day 6 “It is written in Isaiah the prophet: "I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way" ‘a voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.' " (Mar 1:2-3 NIV)
Day 7 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isa 9:6 NIV)
Day 8 “say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you." (Isa 35:4 NIV)
I have found that I am so relieved of worrying when I am in the Word and focusing on Christ. What will happen next knowing that the Father has provided us with a Savoir. That the Savoir has walked among us. That He knows our struggles, our joys and watches us as we celebrate His gifts to us. And He promises that he will return for us.
I would pray that you would take the time to read, mediate and study the above listed Scriptures to know what the Lord is doing for us. He has forgiven our sins; He has promised us eternal life with Him, He calls us to be strong. He has called us to be the light of the world. The Way has been prepared for Him and us. He is the Light of the World. Why worry?
I know that I cannot do all the activities listed on the cards; you may not want to eat any cookies that I would make. So I have found other things to do to honor Christ its ok to explore what the Lord would have you do.
Merry Christmas to All and May the Lord Bless you this Christmas Season,
Pastor Dave

Finance Report:
1.Treasurer Marty Allen reported the following balances:
Financial Reports:
Are available at the church office
Committee Reports:
- Building & Grounds
- Eagle Electric fixed the light at the top of the stairs.
- Got bid from Missouri Glass for half circle windows above doors. Would cost $2,700 installed (no tax). Quote good for 30 days. We are still within the 30-day period.
- Parsonage upstairs plumbing repaired. Most likely $120-130. No update on elevator.
- NEW BUSINESS – Kyle moved to approve $2,700 bid for the window coverings. Brad Gilmore seconded. Motion passed.
- Worship – No report
- Outreach – No report
- Personnel – No report
- Fellowship Hall – Plumbing installed; gravel delivered, should be getting gravel in place and concrete this week.
Old Business: None
New Business:
- Pastor Dave would like the board to place Meredith Jeschke in the role of Sunday School Superintendent. She will step down from VBS Director. Brad Gilmore moved to make Meredith the Sunday School Superintendent. Jason Gibson seconded. Motion passed.
- Texting Service: This service would allow the church to more easily contact a large group of people with text updates. It would cost $31 per month for 500 texts (if paid annually). This includes a promotional period to allow people to opt in. Jerry Jeschke moved to purchase the texting service. Sharelle Blevins seconded. Motion passed.
- AED: Cost anywhere from $1200-$3000. We would need to train several people to be able to use the device. Board requested Pastor Dave investigate further.
- Van: Anonymous donor has given money to the church to be used to purchase a van and retain some funds for maintenance and insurance on the van. The van purchased will not require a CDL to drive. It will be a 15-passenger van. It is recommended that anyone willing to drive the van for church functions complete a defensive driving course. The total donated for the van was $50,000. $10,000 of that will be set aside for maintenance/insurance leaving $40,000 for the purchase of the van.
- Sharelle Blevins moved to accept the donation to buy a van. Kyle Jeschke seconded. Motion passed.
- Committee to select and purchase a van will include Pastor Dave, Kyle Jeschke, and Andrew Gilmore.
- Doniphan County Community Foundation: “Give Where You Live” fundraising event – Starting in December. Foundation will match donations. Need to get paperwork in if we want to participate and specify the purpose of the fund (Fellowship Hall for example). Need to deposit $1,000 to start the fund (to be managed by Greater Manhattan Community Foundation), then funds are held by that group and invested. We can pull funds as desired. We probably need to make a decision today to get involved by December matching event.
- Larry O’Bryan moved to start the fund and participate in the “Give Where You Live” event. Jerry Jeschke seconded. Motion passed.
- Money to start fund will come from the Building Fund.
- Pastor Dave would like to purchase a new bookcase for his office. It is to be roughly 4 feet wide by 6 feet tall.
- Larry O’Bryan moved to purchase a bookcase. Brad Gilmore seconded. Motion passed.
